Deadly accidents are not uncommon. Car crashes regrettably claim lives every day. In many cases, these tragedies could have been prevented if drivers had not been distracted or otherwise negligent in their operation of their vehicles. Still, the lives lost cannot be brought back, and the victims’ surviving family members are left looking for answers and closure.

A fatal accident involving a motorcycle recently took place in Colorado. Reports stated that at approximately 9 a.m., an 80-year-old motorcyclist had been stopped at a red light at an intersection when the driver of an SUV came up behind the motorcycle and did not stop. As a result, the SUV collided with the rear of the smaller vehicle, which caused the man to be thrown off the motorcycle.

He was taken to an area hospital, but he succumbed to the injuries he suffered. It was noted that the man was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident. The driver of the SUV was reported as being a 45-year-old woman, and charges against her were pending at the time of the report.

The family of the man killed in this fatal incident are undoubtedly heartbroken by the sudden loss of their family member. As more information regarding the crash becomes available, the family may be better able to determine whether taking legal action against the driver considered at fault could be in their best interests. Filing a wrongful death claim could help them pursue compensation for their loss and other damages permitted under Colorado state law.
