Most people know that pedestrians face a number of dangers because they are on foot. While many individuals reach their destinations safely, a considerable number of others end up suffering serious or fatal injuries due to being hit by vehicles. These tragic incidents are far too common and leave many families grieving.

It was recently reported that an accident in Colorado led to the death of one person. The 40-year-old woman was on foot and trying to cross a street at an intersection when she was hit by a vehicle being driven by a 29-year-old woman. It was unclear whether the pedestrian was in a crosswalk at the time of the accident. Though emergency crews took actions to keep the woman alive, the injuries proved fatal, and she was declared dead at the accident site.

The driver of the vehicle was suspected to have been under the influence of a drug at the time of the incident. As a result, she was taken into custody on charges of DUI and vehicular homicide. The report also stated that another fatal pedestrian accident had taken place at the same intersection a week prior to this incident.

The family of this Colorado woman are undoubtedly devastated by the outcomes of this incident. Though most people hope for the best when they learn of such events, pedestrians can all too easily suffer fatal injuries. Surviving family members of such victims may have reason to take legal action against the drivers involved in these accidents. If they would like to learn more about their options, they may find it useful to obtain information from local legal resources.
