Though many people enjoy riding motorcycles, these bikes come with more safety risks than operating larger vehicles. Though the activity can be safe when riders take precautions and when other drivers pay attention, the actions of other drivers cannot always be counted on. As a result, a fatal motorcycle accident could result.

It was recently reported that a crash in Colorado claimed the life of one person. Apparently, the collision involved a motorcycle and a car and took place at an intersection. The accident occurred close to 6:30 a.m., but details on how the crash took place were not given in the report. Multiple individuals called emergency services to report the incident, and as officers were responding, the driver of the car left the scene on foot.

The report stated that the driver returned to the scene later as authorities were investigating, and he was taken into custody. The incident resulted in the motorcyclist suffering fatal injuries. As a consequence, the car driver is now facing charges for vehicular homicide, careless driving resulting in death, failing to remain at the scene of an accident and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Authorities believed that drugs or alcohol may have contributed to the crash.

No family wants to learn that a loved one was the victim in a fatal motorcycle accident. The family of this man are undoubtedly heartbroken to learn the news and may wonder how they will move on. As part of their grieving process, they may consider seeking justice by filing a wrongful death claim against the driver considered at fault. A successful claim could allow them to obtain compensation for damages permitted under Colorado law.
